Harbor Inn of AuGres River Raft Race
Date: August 2, 2008
Time: Noon
Start and Finish Line: To be determined by river conditions.
Raft Requirements: Every raft is required to have the following items:

A Plank

A Flag

Team name displayed
Team Name: Creativity welcome however discretion is appreciated as this is a family event.
Entry Fees: $20.00 per raft. Fees must be paid to the AuGres Pirate Festival prior to the event race.
Race Course: AuGres River near the State Dock facility. Definitive course to be set as determined by river conditions at the time of festival.
Starting Gun: The race will start promptly at 12:00 Noon. Please have your craft launched on the river ½ hour before the race for a team meeting and be ready to race.
Finish Line: The race will conclude at marked finish line. Captains will be responsible for taking their rafts off of the water at the finish of the race. The race is finished when the first raft cross the finish line with all 4 Team Members on the raft. Any person jumping off the raft and attempting to tow or push their raft will result in disqualification for their team and raft.
Multiple Heats: Multiple heats are a possibility based on number of participants. If multiple heats are needed the winner will be based on the fastest time out of all the heats.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded at the main tent on the festival grounds. Most creative raft will be awarded $100.00 and bragging rights. It will be judged by the Pirate Board. Fastest raft will receive $50.00 and bragging rights. All rafts that enter the race will receive an “Official Flag” not available for sale.
Release and Hold Harmless Agreement: All captains must sign a Release and Hold Harmless Agreement on behalf of his or her crew and entry. All captains are individually responsible for the actions and welfare of their crew.
General Rules and Regulations/Safety Requirements

All rafts must be homemade.

No commercially manufactured hulls.

All rafts must be self-propelled (i.e. poles, oars, paddle-wheels, ect.) or any combination there of.

The raft deck can not measure more than 4’x 8’ and be able to support the weight of the crew.

The deck must be securely fastened to the frame and the frame securely fastened to the flotation devices.

A crew must consist of 4 people.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors.

All crew members must have a Coast Guard approved life jacket and must be worn at all times during the race or the entire crew will be disqualified.

All captains will conduct “abandon ship” drills with the crew before leaving the dock.

All captains and crew must remain aboard his/her vessel for the entire duration of the race or the entire team will be eliminated.

Each raft must be equipped with a tow line.

No glass containers!

All crews are responsible for their own garbage.

Sun sensitive members should wear appropriate sun screen.

No mechanical devices or tubing shall be used to propel water balloons.

All members shall wear sneakers or other appropriate footwear.

All sheet metal raw edges to be turned over and taped.

All protruding long bolts to be sawed off filed and taped.

All entries to be inspected prior to launching and will be subject to disqualification at the discretion of the Pirate Board.

All rafts must run the entire race course on their own accord to be eligible for any awards.

Any raft that has not crossed the finish line by the allotted time of 25 minutes is required to accept a mandatory tow and become ineligible for any awards
